Yehuda Gruenfeld is an Israeli chess Grandmaster and a former Israeli Chess Champion. He was born on 28 February 1956 in Dzierżoniów, Poland. He is currently 68 years old. Gruenfeld began playing chess at the age of seven and won the Israeli Junior Championship in 1972. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster in 1979. He won the Israeli Chess Championship in 1981 and again in 1984. Gruenfeld has represented Israel in several Chess Olympiads and World Team Championships. He has also won several international tournaments, including the World Open in Philadelphia in 1985 and the World Open in New York in 1988. Gruenfeld has written several books on chess, including "The Complete Chess Workout" and "The Chess Player's Guide to Opening Strategy".
