Though Heath died in 1969, his band continued on relatively intact (most of the original personnel now under the direction of Jack Parnell or Don Lusher), until their farewell concert in December 2000 at London's Royal Festival Hall.

1950

The Heath band performed at sellout concerts at the London Palladium, as well as making prolific recordings for Decca and regular radio broadcasts for the BBC. During the 1950's, Heath conducted the first successful tour made by a British band of the United States.

1946

The Ted Heath Orchestra provided the backing for Britain's first big budget musical, London Town (1946).

1945

English trombonist (from the age of fourteen) and band leader, who performed in the orchestras of Jack Hylton, Sydney Lipton, Bert Ambrose and Geraldo, before forming his own band on VJ Day in May 1945. Some of the financial backing was derived from the royalties of two songs Heath had co-written with his wife: "That Lovely Weekend" and "I'm Gonna Love That Guy".
