Ronnie Burrage is an American jazz drummer who was born on October 19, 1959 in the United States. He is best known for his work with jazz greats such as Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea. He has also performed with a variety of other jazz artists, including Kenny Garrett, Joe Lovano, and Dave Holland. Burrage began playing drums at the age of five and was soon performing with local bands in his hometown of Philadelphia. He attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied with drumming greats such as Alan Dawson and Joe Morello. After graduating, he moved to New York City and began performing with a variety of jazz artists. In addition to his work as a jazz drummer, Burrage has also composed and arranged music for television and film. He has released several albums as a leader, including "The Ronnie Burrage Quartet" (1995), "The Ronnie Burrage Sextet" (1997), and "The Ronnie Burrage Project" (1999). Burrage is currently based in New York City and continues to perform and record with a variety of jazz artists. He is also a professor at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
