Lee Leonard is an American actor and television personality. He is best known for his work as a host on the game show Jeopardy! from 1984 to 1991. Leonard was born Maxwell Irwin Lefkowitz in New York City on April 3, 1929. He attended the University of Miami, where he earned a degree in theater. Leonard began his career as a stage actor, appearing in productions of The Glass Menagerie, The Crucible, and The Odd Couple. He made his television debut in the early 1960s, appearing in episodes of The Defenders, The Nurses, and The Doctors. In 1984, Leonard was chosen to be the host of Jeopardy!, replacing original host Art Fleming. He hosted the show until 1991, when he was replaced by Alex Trebek. Leonard has also appeared in several films, including The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), The Wiz (1978), and The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984). Leonard is estimated to have a net worth of $2 million.
