She has also appeared in films such as Dirty Dancing, Footloose, and The Good Shepherd. Bishop was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and raised in Denver. She began her career as a dancer, performing in the musicals Bye Bye Birdie and Fiddler on the Roof. She made her Broadway debut in the musical Promises, Promises in 1968. Bishop has appeared in numerous television series, including The Waltons, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and Law & Order. She has also had recurring roles on the series The Practice, Will & Grace, and The Good Wife. Bishop has been married twice. She has two children from her first marriage, and one from her second. She currently resides in New York City.
