Dickey Betts is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer best known as a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band. He was born Forrest Richard Betts on December 12, 1943, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Betts began playing guitar at the age of nine and was playing professionally by the time he was sixteen. He joined the Allman Brothers Band in 1969 and wrote some of their most popular songs, including "Ramblin' Man," "Jessica," and "Blue Sky." He left the band in 2000 and released several solo albums. Betts has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. He has won several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1994. He continues to tour and perform with his own band, Great Southern. As of 2021, Dickey Betts's net worth is estimated to be roughly $10 million.
