Ce Ce Peniston is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is best known for her hit single "Finally", which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1992. She has released five studio albums and has had several other charting singles. Peniston was born in Dayton, Ohio, and began singing in church at the age of five. She attended the University of Arizona, where she studied music and dance. After college, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. In 1991, Peniston released her debut single, "Finally", which became a worldwide hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The single was certified gold and sold over two million copies. Her debut album, Finally, was released in 1992 and was certified gold. The album spawned several other hit singles, including "Keep On Walkin'", "We Got a Love Thang", and "Somebody Else's Guy". Peniston has since released four more studio albums, including Thought 'Ya Knew (1994), I'm Movin' On (1996), State of Mind (1999), and Brand New (2005). She has also appeared in several films and television shows, including The Steve Harvey Show, The Parkers, and The Proud Family. Peniston is currently working on her sixth studio album, which is set to be released in 2021. She is also working on a memoir, which is set to be released in 2022.
