Born on July 21, 1929 in Muncie, Kansas, Bob Orton Sr. began his wrestling career in the 1950s. He competed in various promotions, including the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and the American Wrestling Association (AWA). In the late 1970s, Bob Orton Sr. joined the WWF and became a part of the "Legion of Doom" stable. He also competed in the WWF's tag team division, teaming with his son, Bob Orton Jr. In the mid-1980s, Bob Orton Sr. joined the WCW and competed in the tag team division. He also competed in the singles division, where he was a two-time WCW United States Heavyweight Champion. Bob Orton Sr. retired from professional wrestling in the late 1990s.
