Bijon Bhattacharya was an Indian actor, writer, and music director. He was born on 17 July 1917 in Faridpur, Bengal Presidency, British India. He was best known for his roles in Bengali films such as Jalsaghar (1958), Chiriyakhana (1967), and Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne (1969). Bhattacharya began his career as a theatre actor in the 1940s. He made his film debut in the Bengali film, Jalsaghar (1958). He went on to appear in several other Bengali films, including Chiriyakhana (1967) and Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne (1969). Bhattacharya was also a writer and music director. He wrote the screenplay for the Bengali film, Chiriyakhana (1967). He also composed the music for the film, Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne (1969). Bhattacharya was married to actress Supriya Devi. He died on 28 April, 1981 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
