Lionel Richie is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer. He has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. He has had four U.S. number-one singles and four Grammy Awards. He is also a member of the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame. Richie began his career as a member of the Commodores, a funk and soul band, in 1968. He left the group in 1982 to pursue a solo career. His debut solo album, Lionel Richie, was released in 1982 and featured the hit single "Truly". His second album, Can't Slow Down, was released in 1983 and featured the hit singles "All Night Long (All Night)" and "Hello". Richie has released several other albums since then, including Dancing on the Ceiling (1986), Back to Front (1992), and Tuskegee (2012). He has also collaborated with other artists, including Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, and Diana Ross. Richie has also acted in several films, including The Color Purple (1985), Uptown Girls (2003), and Just Go with It (2011). He has also appeared on television shows, including American Idol and The Voice. Richie has been married twice and has two children. He is currently married to Diane Alexander.
