Bonnie Lou was an American singer and songwriter who was active in the 1950s and 1960s. She is best known for her hit single "Seven Lonely Days," which reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1953. She also had several other charting singles, including "Tennessee Wig Walk" and "Daddy-O." Bonnie Lou was born Mary Joan Kath in Towanda, Illinois, on October 27, 1924. She began her career as a singer in the 1940s, performing with various bands in the Midwest. In 1952, she signed with Columbia Records and released her debut single, "Seven Lonely Days." The song became a hit, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Cash Box chart. Bonnie Lou continued to record throughout the 1950s and 1960s, releasing several more singles and two albums. She also appeared on television shows such as The Ed Sullivan Show and The Steve Allen Show. In the late 1960s, she retired from the music industry and moved to Florida. She died in Clearwater, Florida, on April 28, 2020, at the age of 95.
