Yasutaka Okayama is a 66-year-old Japanese basketball coach and former player. He is best known for his time as the head coach of the Japanese national team, which he led to a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also coached the Japanese team to a silver medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship. Okayama began his basketball career as a player in the Japanese Basketball League (JBL) in 1977. He played for the Mitsubishi Motors team until his retirement in 1988. After his retirement, he became a coach and was appointed head coach of the Japanese national team in 2002. Okayama has been credited with helping to develop the Japanese national team into a competitive force in international basketball. He has also been credited with helping to develop the careers of several Japanese players, including Yuta Tabuse, who became the first Japanese player to play in the NBA. Okayama is married and has two children. He currently resides in Tokyo, Japan.

Okayama practiced judo at junior high school and high school, and obtained a second degree black belt. He started playing basketball when he was eighteen at Osaka University of Commerce. He attended the University of Portland but never played for their basketball program as he was a project. After graduation, he joined the basketball club of Sumitomo Metal Sparks. He represented Japan between 1979 and 1986 before he retired in 1996. As of 2005, he worked for Sumitomo Metal Industries and was active as a basketball coach.

Yasutaka Okayama (岡山恭崇 , Okayama Yasutaka, born November 29, 1954) is a Japanese former basketball player and coach. He was selected by the Golden State Warriors as the 10th pick of the eighth round of the 1981 NBA draft, although he did not sign with them. At 7'8" (234 cm), he is the tallest player ever to be drafted in NBA history. Okayama was the only player from Japan drafted in the NBA until Rui Hachimura in the 2019 NBA draft.
