Willie Boyd is a Scottish singer-songwriter and musician. He is best known for his work with the band Deacon Blue, which he formed in 1985. He has also released several solo albums. Boyd was born in Bellshill, Scotland, and grew up in the nearby town of Motherwell. He attended Motherwell College and studied music. He began playing in local bands in the late 1970s, and in 1985 he formed Deacon Blue with fellow musicians Ricky Ross, Lorraine McIntosh, James Prime, Dougie Vipond, and Graeme Kelling. The band released their debut album, Raintown, in 1987, and went on to have several hit singles and albums in the UK. Boyd has also released several solo albums, including his debut, The Great Divide, in 1995. He has also collaborated with other artists, including Eddi Reader, and has written music for film and television. Boyd is married to singer-songwriter Lorraine McIntosh, and they have two children. He is 62 years old.
