Gaminara attended the University of York, where he studied English and Drama. He then went on to train at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Gaminara has appeared in numerous television series, including The Bill, Casualty, Midsomer Murders, and Doctors. He has also appeared in films such as The World Is Not Enough and The Bourne Identity. Gaminara has written several plays, including The Last Supper and The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. He has also written for television, including episodes of Casualty and Doctors. Gaminara is married to actress and writer Joanna Monro. They have two children. Gaminara plays Dr Richard Locke in the long-running radio soap opera, The Archers. He also voices audiobooks, including Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe novels. His other television credits include Will Newman in Attachments and Dr Andrew Bower in Casualty. Away from acting, he wrote the screenplay for the BBC adaptation of Rachel Morris's novel, Ella and the Mothers. His most notable role was Professor Leo Dalton in the BBC crime drama series Silent Witness, playing the part from 2002 until the death of his character in 2013.
