He is the son of Josef Denifl and Maria Denifl. Denifl began his career in 2000, competing in the Continental Cup. He made his World Cup debut in 2003, and won his first World Cup event in 2005. He went on to win a total of four World Cup events, and was a member of the Austrian national team for many years. Denifl has won several medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, including a gold medal in the team event in 2009. He also won a bronze medal in the individual event in 2011.
