Vasily Ivanovich Aksyonov was a Russian novelist and short story writer. He was born on 6 June, 1957 in Moscow, Russia. He was the son of Ivan Aksyonov, a prominent Soviet writer, and his wife, Natalia Aksyonova. Aksyonov graduated from the Gorky Literary Institute in 1979 and began writing short stories and novels. His first novel, Colleagues, was published in 1980 and was an immediate success. He went on to write several more novels, including The Burn (1982), The Island of Crimea (1984), and The Winter's Hero (1986). Aksyonov was a prominent figure in the Soviet literary scene and was a member of the Union of Soviet Writers. He was also a member of the Writers' Union of Russia. Aksyonov's works were often critical of the Soviet system and he was frequently censored by the Soviet authorities. He was also a vocal critic of the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan in 1979. Aksyonov died on 15 July, 2009 in Moscow, Russia. He was 63 years old. Vasily Ivanovich Aksyonov's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
