Tyson Walter is an American former professional football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He played college football at Ohio State University. Walter was born on March 17, 1978 in Bainbridge, Ohio. He attended Miami Trace High School in Washington Court House, Ohio, where he was a two-time All-Ohio selection. He was also a two-time All-Big Ten selection at Ohio State University. Walter was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He played for the Cowboys from 2000 to 2006, and then for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2007 to 2010. He was a member of the Cowboys' Super Bowl XXX victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Walter retired from the NFL in 2011. He currently works as a color analyst for the Big Ten Network. On March 23, 2006, the Washington Redskins signed him as a free agent to be the backup center. He was released on October 24.

On November 25, 2006, he signed as a free agent with the Green Bay Packers. On September 1, 2007, he was placed on the injured reserve list and wasn't re-signed after the season.

2005

Walter remained a versatile backup and was used in four different positions along the offensive line. On September 3, 2005, he was waived to keep second-year player Ben Noll on the roster.

On November 18, 2005, he signed with the Houston Texans. Although he was a part of the regular roster, he was declared inactive for the last 7 games of the season. He wasn't re-signed after the season.

2004

In 2004, he regained the starter position, but suffered a sprained left knee in the second quarter of the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings, opening the door for Johnson to start the rest of the season at center.

Walter was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round (179th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft. He was one of three Ohio State players selected by the Cowboys that year.
