Tom Magliozzi was an American radio personality, actor, and writer. He was best known as one half of the "Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers" on National Public Radio's Car Talk. He was born on June 28, 1937 in East Cambridge, Massachusetts. Magliozzi attended MIT, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. After college, he worked as a research chemist for a few years before becoming a teacher at MIT. He later worked as a computer programmer and consultant. In 1977, Magliozzi and his brother Ray began hosting a call-in radio show on WBUR in Boston. The show was called "Car Talk" and featured the brothers discussing car-related topics and answering questions from callers. The show was a hit and eventually moved to National Public Radio in 1987. Magliozzi was also an actor, appearing in several films and television shows. He also wrote several books, including Car Talk: The Book and Car Talk: The Book 2. Magliozzi was married to his wife, Joanne, for over 50 years. He passed away on November 3, 2014 at the age of 77.
