Ted Tally is an American playwright and screenwriter. He was born on April 9, 1952 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is best known for writing the screenplay for the 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs, for which he won an Academy Award. Tally attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974. He then attended the Yale School of Drama, where he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1977. Tally's first produced play was The Unseen Hand, which premiered in 1981. He has since written several other plays, including The Hunting of the Snark, The Uninvited, and The Man Who Was Thursday. Tally has also written several screenplays, including The Juror (1996), Red Dragon (2002), and The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009). He won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Silence of the Lambs in 1991. As of 2021, Ted Tally's net worth is estimated to be roughly $2 million.
