Susumu Katsumata is a Japanese businessman and the former president of Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). He was born on 17 February 1956 in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi, Japan. He graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1979 with a degree in engineering. Katsumata began his career at TEPCO in 1979 and rose through the ranks to become president in 2009. During his tenure, he was responsible for the company's response to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster in 2011. He resigned from his post in 2012 and was replaced by Naomi Hirose. Katsumata is currently the chairman of the Japan Atomic Energy Commission and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency's Board of Governors. He is also a member of the Japan Business Federation and the Japan Institute of International Affairs. As of 2021, Susumu Katsumata's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
