Stijn Coninx is a Belgian film director who has been active in the film industry since the early 1980s. He is best known for directing the Academy Award-nominated film Daens (1992). He has also directed several other films, including the popular comedy-drama Everybody's Famous! (2000). Coninx was born in Neerpelt, Pelt, Belgium, on 21 February 1957. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and the University of Ghent. He began his career as a documentary filmmaker, and his first feature film was the drama The Boat of My Life (1986). Coninx has been nominated for several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for Daens (1992). He has also won several awards, including the Golden Calf for Best Director at the Netherlands Film Festival for Everybody's Famous! (2000). Coninx is married to actress and singer Veerle Dobbelaere, and they have two children. He currently resides in Belgium.
