He has also worked on television series such as The Simpsons and Rugrats. Bergqvist was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on 28 April 1962. He studied at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where he received a degree in animation. Bergqvist began his career in animation in the late 1980s, working as an animator on the Swedish television series The Adventures of Pippi Longstocking. He then moved to the United States, where he worked as an animator on the television series The Simpsons and Rugrats. In the early 1990s, Bergqvist began working at Walt Disney Animation Studios, where he worked as an animator on the films The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He also worked as an art director on the films Hercules and Tarzan. Bergqvist has since worked as a director on the films The Emperor's New Groove and Brother Bear.
