He played drums and percussion on the band's first two albums, American Music and The Blasters. Skid Roper left The Blasters in 1983 and went on to form his own band, Skid Roper and the Whirlin' Wheels. He released two albums with the band, Skid Roper and the Whirlin' Wheels and Skid Roper and the Whirlin' Wheels II. In the 1990s, Skid Roper returned to The Blasters and has since toured and recorded with the band.
