Timeline

1995

Sid went to an Arts high school (Arts Magnet at Booker T. Washington, in Dallas, Texas) where she acted in most of the plays and designed lights, sets and make-up for the others. She received an acting scholarship to The College of Santa Fe; however, since she had been a diligent student in High School she found the curriculum at the college to lack stimulation and took a job as the Technical Director for the local road house - The Armory for the Arts. As the TD, she oversaw all technical aspects of the facility as well as acting as house lighting designer for the musical acts that came through. While in Santa Fe, Sid and a few colleagues expanded on the existing children's theatre camp to create a year long Children's Theatre troupe. Sid designed all the sets and lighting for the productions and starred in several of the plays. The Southwest Children's Theatre Company is still in existence today after 15 years. From Santa Fe, Sid was recruited to become the House Lighting Designer for The McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert California. There she designed lights for such legends as Cab Calloway, Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald. After 2 seasons with The McCallum, Sid decided to move on to New York. She found a job as the House Lighting Designer for The Bottom Line in Greenwich Village and began to design for established artists and up-and-comers. The Bottom Line led to touring and Sid spent approximately four years on the road with various acts from Public Enemy to Carlene Carter. Taking a break from life on the road, Sid returned to Manhattan and freelanced around town. In 1995 she went back on the road again to act as Lighting Director for Laurie Anderson's US Bright Red Tour - that gig led to Sid going on a worldwide tour with Lou Reed as the Lighting Designer. Sid decided to end her touring days on that high note and began to romance MTV, positioned to move in to a new phase of her career. In the late 90s Sid was hired to develop an in-house Art Department for MTV's new flagship studio in Times Square. For many years Sid designed the majority of the sets for studio productions as well as maintaining the studio's appearance and developing strange props on a daily basis. Currently Sid is in post-production on the documentary "AmmA Means Mother" which she is Co-Producing and acts as the Art Director.
