Shakeel Badayuni was born on 3 August 1916 in Budaun, India. He was a renowned Urdu poet and lyricist. He was a student of the famous poet, Firaq Gorakhpuri. He wrote many famous ghazals and lyrics for Bollywood films. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1971 for his contribution to literature. Shakeel Badayuni was married to Begum Akhtar, a famous singer. He had two sons, Shabab Badayuni and Shaukat Badayuni. Shakeel Badayuni was a prolific writer and wrote many famous ghazals and lyrics for Bollywood films. He wrote the lyrics for the famous song "Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai" from the movie Guide (1965). He also wrote the lyrics for the song "Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho" from the movie Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1960). Shakeel Badayuni died on 11 April 1971 in Bombay, India.
