Sarah Neufeld is a Canadian musician and composer best known as a member of the indie rock band Arcade Fire. She is also a member of the instrumental group Bell Orchestre and the duo The Luyas. Neufeld has released two solo albums, Hero Brother (2013) and The Ridge (2016). Neufeld was born in Merville, British Columbia, Canada, and grew up in Vancouver. She began playing the violin at the age of four and studied classical music at the Vancouver Academy of Music. She attended the University of British Columbia, where she studied jazz and classical music. Neufeld joined Arcade Fire in 2003 and has been a member ever since. She has also performed with Bell Orchestre, The Luyas, and Broken Social Scene. In 2013, she released her debut solo album, Hero Brother. The album was produced by her Arcade Fire bandmate, Owen Pallett. Neufeld's second solo album, The Ridge, was released in 2016. The album was produced by her Arcade Fire bandmate, Richard Reed Parry.
