New Zealand born, Sarah MacDonald spent five years working for the BBC's flagship news and current affairs pro-gramme Newsnight. In 2000, she began a seven month undercover investigation into familial child abuse in Liverpool, which involved putting secret cameras on a victim to entrap her abusers. As a result of the film, three men were jailed for a total of 90 years. Sarah won a British Academy of Film and Television Award (BAFTA) as New Director and the heroine in the film won 'Woman of the Year' presented at Downing Street.
