Sanjeewa Hulangamuwa is a Sri Lankan politician and businessman. He is the current Member of Parliament for the Kandy District and the Deputy Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs. He is a member of the United National Party (UNP). Hulangamuwa was born on 27 October 1955 in Kandy, Sri Lanka. He received his primary and secondary education at St. Anthony's College, Kandy. He then went on to study at the University of Colombo, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Hulangamuwa began his political career in 1994 when he was elected to the Kandy Municipal Council. He was re-elected in 1997 and served as the Mayor of Kandy from 1998 to 2000. In 2000, he was elected to the Parliament of Sri Lanka from the Kandy District. He was re-elected in 2004, 2010 and 2015. Hulangamuwa is also a successful businessman. He is the Chairman of the Hulangamuwa Group of Companies, which is involved in the construction, hospitality and tourism industries.
