Salome Bey is an American actress and singer. She is best known for her roles in the films "The Wiz" (1978) and "The Cotton Club" (1984). She has also appeared in numerous television shows, including "The Cosby Show" (1984-1992), "Law & Order" (1990-2010), and "The Good Wife" (2009-2016). Bey began her career in the late 1950s, performing in nightclubs and on Broadway. She made her film debut in the 1978 musical "The Wiz," and went on to appear in several other films, including "The Cotton Club" (1984), "The Preacher's Wife" (1996), and "The Hurricane" (1999). Bey has also released several albums, including "Salome Bey Sings the Blues" (1978), "Salome Bey Live" (1982), and "Salome Bey Sings the Great American Songbook" (2006). In addition to her acting and singing career, Bey is also an advocate for social justice and civil rights. She is a member of the NAACP and has served on the board of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She is also a member of the National Council of Negro Women.
