Roy Innis is an American civil rights activist, actor, and author. He is the National Chairman of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), a civil rights organization founded in 1942. He is also the founder of the Innis Free Enterprise Institute, a non-profit organization that promotes economic development in the African-American community. Innis was born in St. Croix, Virgin Islands, and moved to New York City at the age of nine. He attended City College of New York and graduated with a degree in sociology. He then attended Brooklyn Law School, where he earned his law degree. Innis has been involved in civil rights activism since the 1960s. He has been a leader in the fight for civil rights, economic justice, and racial equality. He has been a vocal advocate for the rights of African-Americans, and has been a leader in the fight against police brutality and racial profiling.
