Roy Barnes is an American art director and production designer who has worked on a number of films and television shows. He was born on February 9, 1936 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Barnes began his career in the art department of the television series The Defenders in 1961. He went on to work on a number of other television shows, including The Fugitive, The Invaders, and The Mod Squad. In the 1970s, Barnes began working in feature films, including The Godfather Part II, The Towering Inferno, and The Deer Hunter. He also worked on the television miniseries Roots and the feature film The Rose. In the 1980s, Barnes worked on a number of films, including The Natural, The Color Purple, and The Untouchables. He also worked on the television miniseries North and South. In the 1990s, Barnes worked on a number of films, including The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Insider. He also worked on the television miniseries From the Earth to the Moon. Barnes has been nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Art Direction for his work on The Godfather Part II and The Color Purple. He has also been nominated for two Emmy Awards for his work on the miniseries North and South. Barnes is currently retired and living in Los Angeles, California.
