He is a two-time Olympic medalist, having won gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and silver at the 2012 London Olympics. He is also a two-time European champion, having won gold in 2007 and 2011. Cammarelle was born on 22 March 1980 in Cinisello Balsamo, Italy. He began boxing at the age of 12 and went on to become a two-time Italian amateur champion.
