Robert Rehme is an American film producer and executive. He is best known for producing the Academy Award-winning films The Hunt for Red October (1990) and The Abyss (1989). Rehme was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on May 5, 1935. He attended the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a degree in business administration. After college, he worked in the advertising industry before moving to Los Angeles in the late 1960s to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Rehme began his career in the film industry as a production assistant on the television series The Mod Squad. He then worked as a production executive at Universal Pictures, where he was involved in the production of films such as The Sting (1973) and The Deer Hunter (1978). In the 1980s, Rehme formed his own production company, Rehme Productions, and produced a number of successful films, including The Hunt for Red October (1990), The Abyss (1989), and The Hunt for Red October (1990). He also served as an executive producer on the television series The Equalizer (1985-1989). Rehme has been nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Picture for The Hunt for Red October (1990) and The Abyss (1989).
