Robert Hazard is an American singer-songwriter, composer, and music producer. He is best known for writing the Cyndi Lauper hit "Girls Just Want to Have Fun". He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1948. Hazard began his career in the late 1970s, writing and performing his own songs in the Philadelphia area. He released his first album, Robert Hazard and the Heroes, in 1981. The album featured the single "Escalator of Life", which became a minor hit. In 1983, Hazard wrote "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" for Cyndi Lauper. The song became a worldwide hit, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and becoming Lauper's signature song. Hazard released two more albums in the 1980s, but neither achieved the success of his first. He continued to write and produce music, and in the 1990s he wrote and produced songs for other artists, including the Goo Goo Dolls, Joan Jett, and the B-52s. Hazard has also composed music for television and film, including the theme song for the television show "The Adventures of Pete & Pete". Hazard's final album "Truobadour" was issued on the Rykodisc label on October 9, 2007. In his latter years Robert also ran an antique shop with his wife Susan nearby their home in Old Forge, New York.
