Rob Cohen is an American film producer, director, and actor. He is best known for directing The Fast and the Furious (2001), xXx (2002), and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008). He has also produced films such as The Rat Pack (1998), The Skulls (2000), and Stealth (2005). Cohen was born on March 12, 1949 in Cornwall, New York. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a degree in international relations. After college, he worked as a journalist for the Associated Press and then as a television producer for ABC News. In the early 1980s, Cohen moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in filmmaking. He wrote and directed the cult classic The Monster Squad (1987) and produced the hit comedy Big (1988). He went on to direct the action films Dragonheart (1996) and The Fast and the Furious (2001). Cohen directed the third installed of The Mummy: Tomb of The Dragon Emperor (2008) in 2008, grossing $405million world-wide, and Blumhouse Production's The Boy Next Door (2015) with Jennifer Lopez, which went on to gross five times it's budget.
