She was best known for her books about Jewish holidays and traditions, which she wrote and illustrated. Rita Zemach was educated at the University of Michigan, where she earned a degree in English literature. She then went on to study at the Art Institute of Chicago. Rita Zemach was married to the late Rabbi David Zemach, with whom she had two children. She was a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Rita Zemach wrote and illustrated over 30 books, including The Sabbath Lion, The King's Daughter, and The Magic Dreidels. She also wrote and illustrated several books about Jewish holidays and traditions, such as The Passover Lamb, The Hanukkah Book, and The Purim Play. Rita Zemach passed away on April 3, 2015, at the age of 89. She was survived by her two children and four grandchildren. Rita Zemach's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.

Zemach was elected as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 1987.

1979

Her later research concerned more applied areas of statistics, in health and resource allocation. By 1979, she had become chief of statistics research and education for the Michigan Department of Public Health.

1961

As Rita Zemach, she became an elected member of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics in 1961, and earned her Ph.D. in statistics in 1965 from Michigan State University. Her dissertation, supervised by Esther Seiden, was On Orthogonal Arrays of Strength Four and Their Applications. She later published this work, "the first significant progress on orthogonal arrays of strength 4", with Seiden in the Annals of Mathematical Statistics.

Rita Dresner started her undergraduate studies at New York University, but transferred to Barnard College in her junior year. At Barnard, she became a member of the editorial staff of the Barnard Bulletin, the school newspaper. She graduated from Barnard in 1947.
