Ric Grech is a British musician, best known as the bassist and vocalist for the rock band Family. He was born in Bordeaux, France, on 1 November 1946, to a Polish father and a French mother. Grech began playing the violin at the age of five, and later switched to the bass guitar. He joined Family in 1966, and played on their first two albums, Music in a Doll's House and Family Entertainment. He also played on the band's third album, A Song for Me, and contributed to the writing of several songs. In 1969, Grech left Family to join Blind Faith, a supergroup featuring Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, and Ginger Baker. He played on their only album, Blind Faith, and co-wrote the song "Can't Find My Way Home". In 1970, Grech formed the band Ginger Baker's Air Force, which released two albums. He also released two solo albums, Ric Grech and The Last Exit. Grech's later career was marked by drug and alcohol abuse, and he died of liver failure in 1990, at the age of 43.
