Renato Prada Oropeza is a Bolivian writer and poet. He is best known for his works in the genres of poetry, short stories, and novels. He has published more than twenty books, including the novel "La Casa de los Cuervos" (The House of the Ravens). He has won numerous awards, including the National Prize for Literature in Bolivia in 1988. Renato Prada Oropeza was born on 17 October 1937 in Potosí, Bolivia. He studied at the University of San Andrés in La Paz, where he graduated with a degree in philosophy and letters. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in literature at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. Renato Prada Oropeza has been a professor of literature at the University of San Andrés since 1965. He has also served as a professor at the University of Buenos Aires and the University of La Paz. He has been a visiting professor at universities in the United States, Mexico, and Spain. Renato Prada Oropeza has received numerous awards for his work, including the National Prize for Literature in Bolivia in 1988, the National Prize for Literature in Argentina in 1989, and the National Prize for Literature in Mexico in 1990. He has also been awarded the Order of the Sun of Peru in 1995 and the Order of the Aztec Eagle in Mexico in 1997. Renato Prada Oropeza is currently 84 years old.
