Ray Bauduc was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. He was born on June 18, 1906 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was best known for his work with the Bob Crosby Orchestra, which he co-led with Bob Crosby from 1935 to 1942. Bauduc began playing drums at an early age and was playing professionally by the age of 15. He was a member of the New Orleans Rhythm Kings in the 1920s and later joined the bands of Red Nichols and Ben Pollack. In 1935, he joined Bob Crosby's band and co-led it with Crosby until 1942. Bauduc was known for his unique style of drumming, which featured a heavy use of the bass drum and snare drum. He was also known for his use of the tom-tom, which he used to create a distinctive sound. Bauduc was a prolific recording artist, appearing on hundreds of recordings with the Bob Crosby Orchestra and other bands. He also appeared in several films, including the musicals "The Big Broadcast of 1938" and "The Big Broadcast of 1940". Bauduc died on April 11, 1988 in Los Angeles, California. He was 81 years old.
