Rance Allen is an American gospel singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the leader of the Rance Allen Group, a gospel trio that has been active since the early 1970s. Allen has released over 20 albums and has been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards. He has also collaborated with a number of artists, including Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and Kirk Franklin. Allen was born in Monroe, Michigan, and grew up in a musical family. He began singing in church at the age of five and was soon performing with his brothers, Thomas and Steve. The trio formed the Rance Allen Group in 1972 and released their debut album, A Soulful Experience, in 1975. Throughout his career, Allen has released a number of successful albums, including Live From San Francisco (1985), I Belong to You (1991), and Celebrate (2003). He has also collaborated with a number of artists, including Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and Kirk Franklin. In addition to his music career, Allen has also served as a pastor at New Bethel Church of God in Christ in Toledo, Ohio since 1983. He has also been involved in a number of philanthropic endeavors, including the Rance Allen Foundation, which provides scholarships to students in need.
