Prescott Niles is an American musician, songwriter, and bassist. He is best known as the bassist for the rock band The Knack, which he joined in 1979. He has also played with other bands such as The Romantics, The Go-Go's, and The Motels. Niles was born in 1954 in the United States. He began playing bass at the age of 12 and was soon playing in local bands. He attended the University of Michigan and graduated with a degree in music. Niles joined The Knack in 1979 and played on their debut album, Get the Knack. The album was a huge success, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart and selling over five million copies. Niles also co-wrote the hit single "My Sharona". Niles left The Knack in 1982 and went on to play with other bands, including The Romantics, The Go-Go's, and The Motels. He also released a solo album, Prescott Niles and the Sharks, in 1985. Niles is currently living in Los Angeles and is still active in the music industry.
