He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 18, 1886, to Powel and Lillian Crosley. He attended the University of Cincinnati, where he studied engineering and law. Crosley began his career as a lawyer, but soon became interested in the automotive industry. He founded the Crosley Automobile Company in 1921, and the company quickly became a success. He also founded the Crosley Radio Corporation in 1934, and the company became the largest radio manufacturer in the United States. Crosley was also an innovator in the field of broadcasting. He was the first to broadcast a baseball game on the radio, and he was also the first to broadcast a college football game. He was also the first to broadcast a professional football game. Crosley was also a philanthropist, donating millions of dollars to various charities and causes. He was also a major supporter of the University of Cincinnati, donating money for the construction of the university's library and stadium. Crosley died on March 28, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was 74 years old.
