Pippo Baudo is an Italian television presenter, actor, composer, and director. He is best known for hosting the popular Italian variety show, Festival di Sanremo, from 1975 to 1997 and again in 2019. He has also hosted several other shows, including Domenica In, Fantastico, and La Corrida. Baudo was born in Militello, Catania, Sicily, on 7 June 1936. He studied at the Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica in Rome. He began his career as a singer, performing in nightclubs and on the radio. He then moved into television, hosting variety shows and game shows. In 1975, Baudo began hosting the Sanremo Music Festival, a popular Italian music competition. He hosted the show for 22 years, until 1997. He returned to host the show in 2019. Baudo has also hosted several other shows, including Domenica In, Fantastico, and La Corrida. He has also acted in several films, including Il mio amico Benito (1966), La ragazza di Bube (1968), and La ragazza con la pistola (1968).
