Pierre Bensusan is a French-Algerian guitarist, singer, and composer. He is best known for his unique fingerstyle guitar playing, which combines elements of jazz, folk, and world music. He has released over 20 albums since the 1970s, and has toured extensively throughout Europe, North America, and Australia. Bensusan was born in Oran, Algeria, and moved to Paris, France, at the age of seven. He began playing guitar at the age of nine, and was influenced by the music of Django Reinhardt, as well as the folk music of his native Algeria. He released his first album, Près de Paris, in 1975. Bensusan has released several albums since then, including Intuite (1985), Solilai (1991), and Altiplanos (1995). He has also collaborated with other musicians, including the Irish folk group Altan, and the American jazz guitarist Larry Coryell. Bensusan has been nominated for several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album in 1996. His music has been characterized as Celtic, folk, world music, New-age, and chamber jazz. He has published three books of music and tablature. He plays in DADGAD tuning.

Born in 1957 in Oran, French Algeria he moved to Paris with his family when he was four years old. He studied piano and classical music at the age of seven. Four years later, he began to teach himself guitar after his father had bought him a steel string acoustic guitar and a classmate taught him "a few chords". At seventeen, he signed a contract for his debut album, Près de Paris, which won the Grand Prix du Disque at the Montreux Festival.
