Peter Ostroushko is an American mandolinist, violinist, guitarist, and composer. He is best known for his work in the genres of folk, bluegrass, and country music. He has released several solo albums and has collaborated with many other musicians, including Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, and Willie Nelson. Ostroushko was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and began playing the violin at the age of five. He was inspired by the music of his Ukrainian-American parents, and by the traditional music of the American Midwest. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he studied classical music and composition. In the 1970s, Ostroushko began performing with the bluegrass band, The New Prairie Ramblers. He also began to perform with the folk-rock group, The Hopeful Gospel Quartet. In the 1980s, he released his first solo album, Heartland, which featured his own compositions and arrangements of traditional folk songs. Ostroushko has since released several more solo albums, including Postcards (1991), Sacred Heart (1995), and When the Last Morning Glory Blooms (2005). He has also collaborated with many other musicians, including Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, and Willie Nelson. Ostroushko is currently 67 years old. He has an estimated net worth of $1 million.

Ostroushko has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. Ostroushko's compositions have been performed by the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Sinfonia, the Rochester Symphony Orchestra, the Des Moines Symphony and the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra. In 2009, he played with the Minnesota Youth Symphonies at Orchestra Hall. Music from Heart of the Heartland was used by Ken Burns for the PBS documentary Lewis & Clark: The Journey of the Corps of Discovery and his arrangement of "Sweet Betsy from Pike" was used in Burns' Mark Twain.
