Peter Kreuder was a German composer, pianist, and orchestra leader. He was born in Aachen, Germany, and studied music at the Cologne Conservatory. He began his career as a pianist and orchestra leader in the 1920s, and soon became one of the most popular entertainers in Germany. He composed over 500 songs, including the popular "Veronika, der Lenz ist da" and "Ein Freund, ein guter Freund". He also wrote the music for several films, including "Der Kongress tanzt" and "Der letzte Walzer". Kreuder was a prolific composer, and his works were performed by many of the leading orchestras of the day. He was also a successful recording artist, and his recordings sold millions of copies. He was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1965. Kreuder died in 1981 in Munich, Germany. He is remembered as one of the most influential German composers of the 20th century.

Musical director of the Deutschen Theater in Munich and in Berlin from 1922 and of the "Max-Reinhardt-Buehnen" in 1930. In the 1930's and 40's, he became a leading composer of film music. He was among the first to popularise jazz and swing elements in German music during the 1930's.
