Panagiotis Mantis is a Greek sailor who was born on 30 September, 1981 in Greece. He is a two-time Olympic medalist, having won a silver medal in the 470 class at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and a bronze medal in the same class at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He is also a two-time world champion in the 470 class, having won the title in 2005 and 2007. Mantis began sailing at the age of nine and has been competing in the 470 class since 1998. He is currently a member of the Greek sailing team and is coached by his father, Panagiotis Mantis Sr. Mantis is married to fellow Greek sailor Sofia Bekatorou, with whom he has two children. He is also an avid fan of the Greek football team Olympiacos.
