Otis Grigsby was born in American on 19 November, 1980. He attended the University of Michigan, where he played college football for the Wolverines. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played for the Bengals for four seasons, and then for the Jacksonville Jaguars for one season. Grigsby was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2002. He was also a two-time Pro Bowl selection in 2004 and 2005. Grigsby is currently the defensive line coach at the University of Michigan. He is married to his wife, Jennifer, and they have two children. Grigsby has an estimated net worth of $2 million.

In 2007, he played in eight regular season games—four with Carolina and the final four games of the season with Minnesota. He made his presence felt immediately with the Vikings, notching a 4th-quarter sack of former Vikings QB Shaun Hill at San Francisco (12/9), his 1st career sack, and forced a fumble on the play that was recovered by fellow lineman Spencer Johnson he played in 1st NFL game of his career in the opener at St. Louis (9/9) as a Panther.

In 2006, he spent final two weeks of regular season on Panthers practice squad. He went to training camp with Carolina but was waived on 8/29/06. In 2005, he went to training camp with Atlanta but was waived on 8/26/05. In 2004, he spent training camp with Miami but was released in final roster cuts on 9/5/04.
