Van den Berg has competed for Europe at the Mosconi Cup on eight occasions, winning the event in 2002, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017, as well as tying the event in 2006.

In both 2002, and 2006, van den Berg won the Euro Tour seasons, scoring the most ranking points over those two seasons. van den Berg's last win came at the 2017 Portugal Open, having not won an event since 2014, defeated Konrad Juszczyszyn (9–5), Witalij Pazura (9–8), Tomasz Kapłan (9–6) and Mark Gray (9–3) to reach the final. He would take on David Alcaide in the final, and would win 9–5.

Van den Berg represented Team Europe at the Mosconi Cup eight times between 2002 and 2017. van den Berg made his debut in the competition in 2002, in what was Europe's first win since 1995. In competing in the 2002 edition, he was the youngest player in the competition at 22, until American's team Skyler Woodward in 2015. He would finish the event, winning 3 games, including a 5–0 win partnering Steve Davis, and losing twice. He would return for the 2003 Mosconi Cup, but would only play in the 2006 edition before rejoining at 2010 Mosconi Cup for three seasons. He would later also play in the 2015 and 2017 events.

Van den Berg has won 10 events on the Euro Tour, with a further 5 silver and 6 bronze medals. van den Berg won his first medal at a Euro Tour event in 2000, where he finished runner up to Johnny Archer at the 2000 Italy Open. He would win his first event two years later, winning the 2002 Austrian Open.
