Nancy Andrews is an American physician and biologist who is currently the Dean of the Duke University School of Medicine and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Duke University. She is also the Director of the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences and the Director of the Duke Center for AIDS Research. Nancy Andrews was born on November 29, 1958 in Syracuse, New York. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Rochester in 1980 and her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 1984. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester in 1987 and her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of California, San Francisco in 1990. Nancy Andrews has held numerous academic and administrative positions at Duke University since 1990, including Professor of Medicine, Professor of Immunology, Vice Dean for Research, and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. She has also served as the President of the American Society for Microbiology and the President of the Association of American Physicians. Nancy Andrews has received numerous awards and honors for her work, including the American Society for Microbiology's Lifetime Achievement Award, the American Association of Immunologists' Distinguished Service Award, and the American Society for Clinical Investigation's Distinguished Investigator Award.
